Assessment & Testing

GMH staff members are distinguished by their expertise in diagnosis, psychological assessment, and educational testing. Our treatment, whether with a child, teenager, or adult, typically begins with an "evaluation phase" that includes some form of psychological, personality, or academic testing. The purpose of this evaluation is to get to know you or your child quickly, to gather important information about who you are, your life history, and your current problems and symptoms.

Your therapist will share all of the results of the evaluation with you, and together with your therapist, you can use that information to create a plan for treatment. Our clients routinely report that they appreciate the evaluation process, and find it to be helpful.

With your permission, your therapist will share what we learn in the evaluation with your other care providers, such as your medical doctor or your psychiatrist. These other professionals may use the information to make informed decisions about medication and general medical treatment.

We provide the following assessment and testing services:

  • Adult and child ADHD, learning disabilities, and developmental disorders evaluations:
These evaluations are very comprehensive and typically include an intelligence test and academic testing, as well as a clinical interview, emotional assessment, conferences with educators, and various self-report rating scales.

  • General psychological, emotional, and personality evaluations:
For use in treatment planning for therapy.

  • Early kindergarten evaluations

  • Neuropsychological evaluation
