Dr. Biancamaria Penati, Ph.D. received her undergraduate degree from the University of Rochester, Rochester, NY and her Masters and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Milwaukee, WI. Dr. Penati has a specialty in pediatric psychology. She completed a pre-doctoral internship at Duke Medical Center, Durham, NC. Dr. Penati also completed two years of postdoctoral fellowship: the first year was at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, and the second year was at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Hospital, Chapel Hill, NC.

Dr. Penati has worked as a clinical psychologist in hospitals and private practice. She has extensive experience in working with children, adolescents, and college-age adults. Currently, she has a special interest in chronic illnesses, AD/HD, LD, anxiety, and grief and loss. Her theoretical approach integrates knowledge of child and adolescent development with Cognitive Behavioral treatment approaches. She also provides individual DBT sessions. 

When working with children and adolescents, Dr. Penati strives to promote a safe and confidential environment to foster trust and a strong therapeutic relationship. Within this safe environment, Dr. Penati then focuses on striking a balance between working with the patient on what they can do to continue to grow and change, and fostering greater communication between the patient and the family.
